Lachen

Namchi

Namchi, the appellation means sky (Nam) High (Chi) in Sikkimese. It is situated at an altitude of 1,675 m (5500 feet) above sea level, and a must-visit for all football lovers because of the Bhaichung Stadium built by the Sikkimese government in honor of its most famous citizen, footballer Bhaichung Bhutia. Not only this but Namchi also home to numerous species of Himalaya flowers that bloom in beautiful shades.

Food

Apart from the stunning view that Sikkim provides, it also is home to some of the most delectable food! A lot of the food in Sikkim has its influence from its neighboring countries like Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. Their food consists of soulful soups, thukpas, noodles, momos, and various preparations of their staple element, rice. They use a lot of fermented products like fermented soybean and rice products. This brings a unique flavor to their food which one would not be able to find anywhere else! One of the specialties is Phagshapa! Phagshapa is a strip of pork fat that is stewed with dry chilies and radish. A spicy and tangy endeavor of this Sikkimese dish is rich in proteins and is made of no oil.
